Preschool two classroom
Classroom information and daily schedule
The Preschool 2 classroom has a teacher to child ratio of 1:10 and a maximum licensed group size of 20. This room serves children ages 3.5-4.5. This classroom is part of our yearly transition in August and the group moves as a whole. Our day in Preschool 2 begins with drop off and teacher greetings at the door. Children put their belongings in their cubbies and wash their hands. Children enjoy free play until breakfast at 8. After breakfast, children clear their places, wash hands, use the bathroom, and return to free play. Children have their diapers checked or are reminded to use the bathroom every 2 hours, but it is available to them in between those times. At 9:30 the class spends the next 45 minutes outside, weather permitting, and then returns inside for circle and center time. Building off what they learned in Preschool 1, our circle time goes over our Zoophonics letter of the week, the calendar and days of the week, the shape of the week, as well as discussing our current curriculum theme. We discuss our art, fine motor, language/literacy, and math/science centers for the day, and then children spend about 30-45 minutes at centers until clean up at 11:00. Children gather in the library for a read aloud before lunch at 11:15. After lunch, children clean up, take care of bathroom needs, and then nap or rest with a quiet activity until about 2:00. Once they are awake, children may free play until snack time at 2:30, and then return back to free play until outside time at 4:00. The class spends 30 minutes outside, weather permitting, and then comes back inside for free play until parent pick up time.
