​The Toddler 1 classroom has a teacher to child ratio of 1:5 and a maximum licensed group size of 10. This room serves children ages 1-2, and they transition to the Toddler 2 classroom once they have turned 2. Our day in Toddler 1 begins with drop off and teacher greetings at the door.  Teachers then help put children’s belongings in their bags and help wash their hands. Children enjoy free play until breakfast time at 7:45. After breakfast, children have free play until art time at 8:30. Once children are done with their artwork, it’s time to clean up and have circle time. Circle time is brief and developmentally appropriate, with fun songs and stories to engage the children. The children have some time for free play, and then it’s time to head outside. We spend 45 minutes outside, weather permitting, and then return inside for lunch at 11. After lunch, cleaning up, and diapering, children lay down for a nap or a quiet rest until 2:00. Once awake, children enjoy free play until snack time at 2:30. In the afternoon, the class plays outside from 3:00-3:30, and then returns inside for some music time and free play until parent pick up.
