Classroom information and daily schedule

The Toddler 2 classroom has a teacher to child ratio of 1:7 and a maximum licensed group size of 14. This room serves children ages 2-3. As long as their 2nd birthday falls before October 1st, children will transition to the Preschool 1 room when they turn 2.5. If it falls after October 1st, they will move to Preschool 1 in August when the older classrooms do their yearly transition. Our day in Toddler 2 begins with drop off and teacher greetings at the door, then teachers help children put their belongings in their bags and the children wash their hands. Children enjoy free play until breakfast time at 7:45. After breakfast, children have some free play before diapers and bathroom time. From 9:15-10:00, the class spends time outside, weather permitting, and then returns inside for circle time and centers. Circle time is brief and developmentally appropriate, with fun songs and stories to engage the children. The class then breaks off into small groups with art projects or fine motor activities. Children can participate in the activities if they like, or free play in another area of the classroom. Activities conclude at 11:10 to prepare for lunch at 11:15. After lunch, teachers assist children in taking care of bathroom needs, and then they lay down for a nap or quiet rest time until 2. Once awake, children have free play time until snack time at 2:45. Children engage in a music or movement activity until it’s time to go outside at 3:30. After outside time, the class has free play until parent pick up time.
